Boston University (BU) donates to a local organization called ROFEH International, a non-profit. It is an acronym for Reaching Out Furnishing Emergency Healthcare. This organization helps to support and aid families who are forced to leave their homes in order to seek emergency medical care at hospitals in Boston.

Challah for Hunger Melbourne was founded in 2011 by Dean Levitan and Helen Lewitan when they returned from a gap year in Israel on “Israel By Choice (IBC).” They assembled a team around them and started from scratch, running successfully for 2 years. After a brief hiatus in 2013 it was restarted in 2014 by Anthony Janovic and Adam Shapiro and is now baking on a regular basis for the second year running.

IC Challah for Hunger was founded in the Fall semester of 2013. Basically, Ilana Wolf was familiar with the program from her sister’s college and wanted to share all that Challah for Hunger has to offer with the Ithaca community. Ilana’s sister would bring delicious challah home from the Binghamton chapter and once she heard about it, she immediately knew that she wanted to bring it to Ithaca. It brought together two of her favorite things: baking and social justice!

UC Davis supports Yolo Food Bank (Yes Yolo County is a real place…they had it before Drake). They donate there because hunger in rural areas is typically higher than the national average. Yolo Food Bank serves 25,000 people each month and distributes 3 million pounds of food annually.

Buffalo supports Friends of the Night People is an organization that provides food, clothing, medical care and counseling for those who need help. Their mission also includes a desire to heighten public understanding of homelessness and poverty issues.
